canon-autopsy: usually i like ships but recognize that they will never actually happen because a late-series-developed homosexual orientation or relationship between main characters just doesn’t happen. especially in mainstream shows, characters never just become gay. if there is any homosexuality, its in a side character from the start or the main focus of the show/character. male homosexual characters are usually very stereotypically flamboyant or at least feminine. a real, normal romance between two average dudes is unheard of. i’ve always accepted that that kind of positive, real life portrayal of homosexuality would never happen. the writers of supernatural have almost given me hope of this actually happening. not as a joke in a tweet or some insinuation made by another character that we can gif as “evidence” but a real relationship. This would be an utterly amazing step. that guys can be manly and fight fucking demons and look at porn and happen to love another guy with everyone else totally fine with it! this casual love-not-gender portrayal of same sex relationships is exactly what we need in the media! this is why i want destiel to become really canon. I still doubt that this jump will ever be made but its given me some hope.
